My BLOGVERSARY! *2018

Another Year & I am Still Here.

What can I say, still here another year writing and sharing pieces of me that hopefully one day either develop into a story or starts a business where people can’t wait to read what I have to say because it will be something people will want to hear daily. Blogging is second nature to everything else I know, I didn’t start blogging with any idea of how far I could possibly go, or how far I would come — it was just my way to get my health/fitness business started, a way to ignite the important of fitness/health & a host to all my information. For awhile I started going through a couple of my old pieces of writing where the passion was fire and the likes were little to none, and started to read each month & seen the increase of readers, comments, likes, and the amount of post I would do within a day just to make sure I was doing “enough” — by your standards and mine. I started blogging with so little information and no guide, naturally I was having to do this by researching and asking other blogger’s questions (didn’t always help) but there were a few who were helpful and lead me in the right direction. By the time I stepped into my first post, I wrote something and hoped for the best outcome. Took a long time for the best outcome to happen, but it did and it has been growing since then, not as fast but steady and still maintaining some of the same faces who followed me in the beginning are still following me now, it’s wonderful! Blogging has been a magical experience with its good and bad days, and many days I thought about taking long breaks and giving up due to the pressure of my stats not doing so well, but then I seen the way it opened up other outlets (affiliates, marketing, guest post, friendships, mentors, writing for companies/editors, etc) it was worth staying to learn and grow more, it was worth seeing my stats at an all time low in order to prove that it could once more be great, once more be worthy of a following & it was worth watching myself develop as a writer and person through blogging.

You see blogging wasn’t just for entertainment and for business reasons, it was for personal reasons, I didn’t think I could find an outlet that allowed me to speak to people in the form of writing without fear of what others may think — I don’t speak about my feelings as well as others, and so when I started writing, everything that was on my mind; I allowed it to flow onto the screen and I didn’t look back after hitting “publish” — it was my way of opening up to myself just as this 365 days of self discovery has been. If you take the time to look back on my writing, you will see where the topics have changed, the amount of post a day have changed and my voice within my pieces have stayed the same — because my voice is what captured people, it was the difference between me and the next person writing about the same topic (as yours is unique as well). The foundation of my writing comes from the wonderful readers/writers whom I follow and have continued to be supportive of me as well, they are what sparked these changes in my writing, what helped me to keep going many times, and have been the reason for many of my accomplishments at one point. I owe many thanks to many bloggers who have been more than just a daily reader, but more of a companion & an overseas friend. I couldn’t possibly list them all, because this post would never have an ending but special thanks to:

Jim, Ty, PooGja, James, Brad, Bella  — these six have always been wonderful to have, no matter where I land, & no matter how much I slack, they still seem to be around when I come back. Thank you! I appreciate you & I appreciate anyone else whom I did not name, don’t feel left out, because  I recognize new and old followers alike — and I cherish every moment it has created for me and memory I can keep.

How to create good blog content as a fitness/health blogger

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6PwnXtEMmk

Might have another blogger interview next week :)

Hello everyone!

I wanted to keep everyone update on my life as far as my writing, work, goals, etc.

I have some good news I want to share with all of you and hopefully all of you will be just as excited to hear it.

  1. I spoke with a fellow fitness blogger and we are expecting to do a collaboration this month that should be finished by the end of October. It will have something to do with fitness/health & will definitely be worth the wait. It is very exciting.  She reached out to me on social media and wanted to do something different and invited me to work with her on it, we spoke via phone and decided what we kind of want to do, and agreed on some topics and are in the making of creating something fun for our audience! Many of you probably already follow her blog, gojenbefit, if you don’t, take a look at it, she has some good content to offer 🙂
  2. I have not heard back from the editor as of yet, so it should be this week or next, I still have one more article due that needs done by the 27th, so pretty soon I will be working on that article. Busy, busy.
  3. I am still studying for my CPT exam, not fun but needs done so I am prepared.
  4. I have two guest bloggers who will soon be turning in their articles to me to be posted on my site. Be on the lookout for them, they will be awesome!
  5. I have not done my pitch yet for the editor of Muscle & Fitness magazine, but I am trying to make some time in doing that as well, since he did offer me to send him more, I will take advantage of this
  6. I have contacted a fellow blogger who many of you know and asked if he would allow me to do an interview and/or present a blog post to be featured on his page and he has gotten back with me on the idea and I believe next week we will be setting up an interview via skype. I am hoping it makes his radio talk show, that would be awesome, but if not, I still think it is awesome I get this opportunity! I am very nervous and excited all in one. Hopefully he doesn’t throw me any curve balls, LOL. I will and I am sure he will let everyone know when the video gets posted 😀 be on the lookout for that as well!
  7. I have been receiving many positive emails from some of you and I would like to say thank you! it is always awesome when I can wake up and read your emails! love it.
  8. Follow me on social media, if you would like, I am active on all of them (yeah I don’t know how I manage it either) lol.  but love connecting with everyone in various ways.
  9. Thank you for the continued support on my Youtube videos, I know I can be a goof many times, but everything I tell you has some form of meaning to it. I do plan on making more videos besides on Monday’s but right now, my schedule is full most days, but I will let everyone know when I decide to add more videos and on what days. I am looking at starting “Topic Tuesdays” – yes I did make this clever idea up, lol so be on the lookout when I announce my first Topic Tuesday video.
  10. Finally, I want to let everyone know, I apologize if I don’t always get to your new post “on time” or if I don’t seem like I venture to your page often enough, I really honestly try to make it to your page with the time I do have, I am not the fastest reader in the world, so when I do venture.. reading each post takes me time and that is why sometimes I don’t make it back to your page for days or weeks at a time. In an event you want me to look at a particular post and leave feedback, let me know.. I don’t mind, I try to at least read and like what I like, if I don’t like it, I don’t pretend I do. LOL or I haven’t read it yet.
  11. If you want to be a guest post on my blog, you are more than welcome to contact me and give me the scoop in what you want to write and if I like it, cool, if not, we shall tweak it or I keep it real and tell ya it isn’t a good fit, but no worries I am very chill:) If you want me to pick out a topic for you, I do that too. it just means more work for me. LOL. Also, I can guest post for others, if you want me as a guest post or interview, contact me, and we can talk about it.
  12. As far as collaborations, if you want to collaborate with me on something, that is cool too! I am always open to work together on a project with people!

Don’t hold me accountable for this semi-long post, lol. My life isn’t all daisies, I just left out the disasters . haha.

Your fitness blogger,

Shay-lon xoxo

400

I am happy to announce, I have made my milestone of 400 followers today, I want to thank all of you who continue to follow my blog and be very supportive of my writing, achievements, good and bad days. I love blogging and love being able to speak with all you about your passions, adventures, struggles, and triumphs. It is always rewarding when I am able to hit a milestone in something I work hard at.

I was asked to be interviewed, so once the writer posts my questions and answers to her blog page, I will be able to see the outcome, and hope to share with all of you.

My next goal: 500 followers

Your Fitness blogger,

Yes, I can be your guest post

Hello everyone, I have had people ask me if I am willing to do guest post and the answer to this question is YESSS! of course. I love having the opportunity to guest post on other people’s blogs, it makes for a great experience and I get to meet new people through doing so. I also have asked a few people, and will continue to do so as time progresses that they guest post on my blog site as well, I will keep everyone up to date on the matter and make sure anyone I ask to do so, will have plenty of time. I think this will be fun, there is no set date as to when all this will happen, so just keep your eyes and ears open.

As of now, I was asked to do a collaboration with a fellow blogger on a topic surrounding fitness and health. Next weekend we plan on discussing our ideas/topics and hopefully deciding how we would like to go about this (video, guest post, challenge, etc). I am very honored that someone has asked me to do this with them and I plan on sharing the finished product with all of you when given the chance.

Thirdly, thank you to those of you who have sent me emails this past week with your kind words and positive vibes, I appreciate getting emails from people who enjoy my work and share their thoughts about my blog page. This makes blogging worth blogging when I have the support from all of you. This is my formal way of thanking all of you and making sure you know how grateful I am of your generosity and kind words.

BIG thanks each and every one of you! Continue doing great work with your writing!

Shay-lon xoxo

P.S I also am working on becoming a freelance blogger, and/or writer, along with getting my cert in personal training. My journey is long but exciting. I have goals that go past the sky. I appreciate everyone being patient with me when necessary. Also, I will not be blogging tomorrow because I will be out of town again, but only for a 1 or so, but I will be resuming possibly Tuesday unless given time Monday.

Star Wars Actress Attacked- Carrie Fisher

Star Wars Attack

Star Wars Actress asked to lose 35 pounds

So as we are all aware, the actress who has played “Princess Leia” for the past decade & just recently was also in the newest Star Wars movie has been attacked about her weight; not to mention her age. For those of you who may not know whom this icon is, she is Carrie Fisher. Carrie Fisher has been a legend since the very first Star Wars movie appeared in 1977; she played Princess leia and is known for her beauty and well spoken words on camera.

For many, this movie meant so much and stood for so much & brought out the inner kid.  Unfortunately it seems as though some people didn’t like the idea of “Princess Leia” being older, and not so “thin” in their opinion.  People forgot she is not the same person she was YEARS ago, when she was just starting out and young. Some of you, don’t understand how rare it is for such an icon to still be able to do well on screen & manage to hold their character over so many years.  This is a good example of why body shaming is a problem.

It seems no one can watch a movie without passing judgement on someone’s body, and or age.  It becomes problematic for those who have grown up watching Star Wars and want to “relive” their childhood dreams.  Why do people have the right to judge someone because of how they look? Who gives us the right to decide how “fat” or “skinny” someone is? Every since when do we have a right to decide what she does with her body & how she carries herself? Freedom of speech gives us a right to an opinion but our opinion shouldn’t be used to bash someone else if they are doing their job by being the best they can be.  This no doubt has played a huge part in the media the past couple of days & the actress seems to be handling the critics well; holding her dignity high, saying what is on her mind and not succumbing to her fans over analyzation of her.  The expectations that we hold on others is quite disturbing to say the least when no one takes time to look at themselves in the mirror and fix that.

If anything this shows the lack of happiness in those people’s lives & maybe some of them are insecure with themselves and aim to target others for self gratification. If I am wrong, it could also be the fact we have no filter and choose to express our opinions loudly in hopes it causes some kind of uproar. I would like to think this issue wouldn’t have made a difference in the movie, but it seems like it has for fans and media alike. I wish we wouldn’t be so vain, and aim to criticize petty things that have no effect on our own lives. For the sake of this country, if an actor being “overweight” is going to keep you from enjoying a movie, please feel free to not watch (although in my opinion she looked just fine, and did well throughout the movie) me not being a Star Wars fan.  All-in-all make it a point to keep your negativity to yourself or low key because you may never know when a day comes and someone is not satisfied with the way you look & will pass judgement on you.

P.S I have one more topic to talk about below about this same thing.

She was asked to lose weight for the sake of the movie, and I call it bullshit. She is forced to lose weight because no one wants to give up their thoughts of the young Carrie Fisher, media is sitting on their high horse once again to appease people that are vain, incompetent and very superficial. We the people who enjoy movies for the movie and good acting could careless about how she looks as long as she remembers her script.  Yes, its true, its an actors job to look the part; but keep in mind she is older than most actors today & this makes a difference in her muscle mass, weight, changes in facial, and hundreds of other things that could forbid her to look like the “young Princess Leia” , take in consideration the fact she is still able to do her part well & entertain the new generation the way she could years back. She did her job, leave her be.

Sincerely,
Your Blogger Shay-lon
