BEGREATGUYS Motivation Monday #6

HAPPY MONDAY!

Be Great!

Today’s motivation isn’t lengthy and doesn’t have a whole story attached to it, instead it’s simple.

Anytime you say “I Give Up” think of how long it took you to get there and how much longer it will take to start over.

Don’t give up on the positive things in your life, the things that mean the most to you because it makes you feel happy, gives you life, makes you a better person, surrounds you with a sense of positivity.

BEGREATGUYS, INC – first post

For all those new to the blog, I have a second sponsorship and once a week I will be posting a blog post about something motivational or inspirational or share some good talks, etc. At the bottom, I will share the links and everything to their website and my dedicated website with them — anytime there is new products, I will share it with all of you for anyone who is interested. I will also share these on IG.

“Be great, don’t stop”, what does this mean? it means to be the best person you can be, make the best out of things and don’t stop striving. It’s so easy to give up, so easy to say “fuck it”, but it shouldn’t come that easy if you have a passion and drive for whatever it is that you want in life. I have had my battles with wondering if going forward was worth it, it brings self doubt, stress and overwhelming disbelief in yourself. When something like this happens, you have to be prepared to handle it, manage the symptoms of stress and disbelief and find a purpose to keep going because when you stop — you never know what could have been if you would have succeeded.

I am keeping this post short to give you a tidbit of what is to come in the future. Hopefully all of you have enjoyed this post and will continue to enjoy the future ones!

Happy Monday Bloggers!

Why I Chose Exercise Science/Personal Training

The Truth Is..

For some of you, you may not be able to get to the About me Section of my blog and that is perfectly okay because it probably needs updated anyways. I decided to make a more personalized post today since I have been connecting with so many other bloggers who are personal trainers, or health coaches. I love the reasons why people have chosen this profession and i even love the ones who started in this profession but have moved on to something more like nursing or physical therapy and occupational therapy, among other occupations. I think no matter what, you all have chosen to do that profession because you enjoy it – at least I hope so and hope that you if you don’t enjoy it, you find something you do enjoy.

I found that my passion lies with fitness, lies with wanting to be a personal trainer and making the most of it with what I have learned and experiences. I  started off as physical therapy student (which I loved, btw) but soon changed my degree to exercise science and never regretted it yet, although sometimes I was in question about it. For some people, they think of this degree as a dead end, a no go, a pointless achievement but for me, it means I have the power to change someone’s life in a way that is transforming them into better people physically and hopefully building them up mentally as well. Now for starters, this doesn’t mean that I might not go back to school for something more or different if I need to, or decide that I want a change of scenery or if I want a profession that has more benefits, etc – this just means for the time being, personal training is my highest goal. I know this job is hard because most trainers are working part time and having to build a client list while carrying another job and I realize this job can be tiring because you are having to work around a client’s schedule that may be really early in the morning or really late at night but in order to keep them as a client and build rapport, you do it no matter.

In my mind I know this is something I want to do and love watching other trainers with their clients. I want to make a career of this, but I also have given thought about becoming a strength and conditioning coach or perhaps going back to school and going for physical therapy again..and those are ALL things I can do at any point in my life If I choose to. I want to be a personal trainer because I feel as though I have come a long way in myself and I have seen changes that happened gradually and I want to see those changes in others; and if this sounds about right, let me add that I also want to be a personal trainer because I want to be a fitness mogul – someone who isn’t just a person in the world training people but a person who has taken their training to new heights, traveled, well versed with other trainers and professionals in the field, someone who has a general audience they train but specializes in something that makes them stand out among the crowd, someone who has an app that people use because they know it will benefit them, someone who does public speaking/motivational speeches because people love what I have to say and want support, I want a book that I publish; maybe even a series that gives not only the fitness aspect of my life but my development as a person and where my obstacles lie. I want to be able to network with people – nutritionist, doctors, sports medicine professionals, coaches, etc in order to make the best of my job and deliver the best part of me. I have no idea if any of this is possible and if it is, I want it and if it isn’t, well shit I will try anyways.

Being a personal trainer isn’t about looking good, or being strong  – to me, it goes above and beyond that, it is about dedicating your life to making sure that every client feels like they achieved something – achieved something that made them feel better about themselves and their capabilities. I never want a client to feel inferior next to me, I want them to feel like they are my teammate and we both have to do this together if we want to be successful. When I think of everything I hope to do as a personal trainer, I want it to mean something. To some of you this is crazy, impossible, maybe even shocking, and potentially a dream that might never happen – but this is why I chose to graduate in exercise science and why I want to be a personal trainer, this is what I believe in.

P.S for all those who are trainers – feel free to let me know the pros and cons of being a personal trainer, let me know why you chose this occupation, let me know what you think about the fitness industry, let me know if you were a trainer and went on to something more and why you did so, let me know what you think of my reasons, let me know if you prefer working in a gym or being an independent trainer,  tell me everything you know and have learned working as personal trainer. Did you have dreams of training celebs? Do you feel like personal trainers get paid well? Do you feel like it is a growing job choice or dying occupation? do you think exercise science is a dead zone degree? Name other jobs you can get with an exercise science degree, I want to know everything you are willing to share and please feel free to connect with me through social media or email. I love being able to speak with all of you.

Taking Risk|Three Channels of Risk

Risk = Opportunity, but not all Opportunities are good.

In a vlog video today I talked about taking risk and my take on risk and how they can be effective and provide opportunities but at the same time can be what kills us (physically or mentally).  My video was aimed for fitness/health people but this blog will speak to the general population and the same rules will apply but maybe different circumstances. Pay close attention for my post for it may be somewhat beneficial for some of you.

I believe that risk comes in three channels, these channels are: death, depleting of oneself and prosperity/growth. From these channels, you are obviously aware that the last one would be the goal or the most beneficial for us and this is very true. I will break down the differences and discuss each one briefly but somewhat like I did in my video, i will then leave you in thought.

The first channel: Death.

  • This particular channel means literally dying or mentally decaying yourself to the point of exhaustion.
  • An example of death: eating disorders, addictions, suicide, depression.. and the list continues.
  • Most of us know someone or perhaps ourselves can relate to this channel of risk.
  • This particular channel of risk is dangerous, and normally the ultimate downfall unless we seek help in time.

The second channel: Depleting self.

  • This channel poses a threat because it can lead us to the channel of death if we are not careful.
  • An example of depleting self: Trying to be something or someone we are not in order to fit in, allowing others to take advantage of us, having been bullied, traumatic experiences, among many other things
  • Again we have either dealt with this channel ourselves or know someone who is/has.
  • This particular channel is giving us a choice in how we respond to this particular risk- in most cases people go into death , but others will grow and learn from it.

The third channel: prosperity and growth.

  • This channel is about taking a risk that has made you successful, motivational, inspiring, and possibly wealthy in many more ways than just money.
  • This channel takes sacrifices , but they are sacrifices you can handle and or deal with and not regret it down the line if you made the right choice.
  • This channel only turns into a bad risk if you choose to react to it in a greedy nature or make yourself seem more inferior to others.

Now that I have covered these three channels of risk, you are probably asking yourself, why would one want to choose death and/or depleting self.. how does one not know that is a bad risk? Well, it isn’t necessarily that one is choosing to be depressed or choosing to be bullied, risk create opportunities and not all opportunities are good ones, so when one chooses to risk losing weight by choosing to eat less and less.. they aren’t necessarily wanting to die they want the opportunity that comes from it – which is being skinny. Now this is may be all very confusing and you can choose to make sense of it however you want, no right or wrong way. I just found myself rambling and decided to share some insight with you. The bottom line is every risk we take effects us either negatively or in a positive manner, we don’t always know until we have taken the risk. Just think about what risk you are willing to take but don’t stop taking them in order to avoid opportunities.

If you are someone who wants to better understand my thoughts, please feel free to watch my YouTube video from today speaking on risk and hopefully it makes some sense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fZPKcM7iw4. Thanks for reading, feel free to leave comments, share and or like.
