Business Keeps Me Busy

Neglecting to write in my blog is like neglecting to eat for me, I get so caught up with my business & I am at the gym all day; training myself & training clients/giving consultations & then having to stack that on top of my second job (third shift) — while also juggling my website & trying to make that soar. I haven’t yet touched podcasting (I will) because I want to do it — it excites me. I haven’t been blogging on the website as often as I had hoped either / another draw back since having more clients at the gym ( I love being a personal trainer) I do, but Google wasn’t lying when it said this profession is around the clock once you gain clientale and make a name for yourself — your schedule is never the same & while I do make my own schedule each week (sometimes the club director assigns clients to me without my knowledge of having an appointment until I look at my calendar) being at the gym is like my home away from home; basically I sleep, eat and work there & I love it — but I don’t want to get burnt out loving what I do. This weekend, I took time away to focus on catching up on sleep and meal prepping and spending time with loved ones & friends (What’s a social life?) LOL.

So, in the mist of all this rambling, I am basically trying to apologize for the later than late responses & not following some of you newer readers of my blog(s) because honestly, you deserve my attention just as much as I would like yours,  but realistically, we all have a life to live and while I would love to be full time blogger with a higher paying income from it, it’s not happening and so sometimes it doesn’t become top priority over my other obligations. Doesn’t mean I don’t love doing it, I do it because I do love it & because it will one day make a good income & be something people enjoy reading and commenting on again. It probably doesn’t help I don’t share it on my social media platforms (besides #Twitter) anymore due to me being lazy & because since starting this self discovery phase of this blog — I don’t feel as though it touches on fitness/health the way it used to for the time being & that’s okay but I don’ t want people to be let down. When this self discovery phase is over, I will hop back into a fitness/health, body positive , knowledgeable, and worthy topics so that people get excited again and have something to talk about once more. I plan on catching up with blogging this weekend and making it once again a priority (small steps forward) so I will begin with this post — but be ready for more from me. Also, if you don’t catch me on here, I am always on Instagram usually & Twitter and Facebook, so make sure to follow those social platforms to keep up with my life & fun times, hard times & goofy times.

For all those who have left comments on my older post, have liked, followed or share my post, thank you for supporting my passion to write & my semi-lame post with a splash of “just interesting enough” — I promise my topics will glow once again, we just have to overcome the stagnant self discovery post for a while ( just maybe I will make a fitness/health post while doing this self discovery challenge) but anytime I blog on the personal website, I will share the link with all of you, so you don’t miss out on my personal training fun. Make sure to follow me on social media! I am much more fun on IG LOL.

P.S Do you enjoy my self discovery post? Be honest, I won’t cry – might judge you LOL jk.

&

If any of you are creative bees and can answer my question: is it cheaper to have t-shirt designs made on your own or to have them done professionally, let me know. I want my brand to shine & I need to make some products (Tshirts/hats/hoodies etc ) and even wanting to create journals for those to track sleep, diet and eating habits. I want to keep things interactive with & I even want to eventually make a Facebook group where people come together & share their progress, goals, etc with the rest of the community. I want to make shit happen, so it will happen, just will be in small steps (hopefully before I hit 30 years old) because Idk if I will have the same motivation later in life.

Second question of the day, would it be how can I make my blog more interactive for my readers and fellow bloggers.. I know many of you have tons of traffic with comments and likes, etc *& once a upon a time I thought I was killing it, but now, eh. So share your secretes, tell me what has worked for you as a blogger to bring in more traffic — I will use these for my website as well. Gimme all your secrets so I can conquer the world 😀

BTW, guest posting for me is a thing, so if that’s something that interest you, ,let me know & if you know anything about podcast/creating products/website design, making income from blogging, etc.. share your secrets 😀

Happy Monday Bloggers & Readers!

Liebster Award 2017

I was nominated for this wonderful award once again, I love getting this award because it brings back memories for when I had first started my blog page and received this award, I felt on top of the world. I have been nominated for this same award many times by different people and have been thankful for all of them. For some, this award is just another award, but for me, it is your way of letting me know “Shay you are doing good, keep it up” and motivates me to keep going! I am so very grateful that jbrobinblog had decided to nominate me. She is wonderful and I follow her on #Instagram (she follows me too), her pictures are always wonderful, while mine are always lame. LOL. One day I will be cool. Her blog is associated with health and wellness as well as her own adventures she takes. Her Instagram is positive and gives you an inside look at her life and adventures, if you haven’t already followed her, you should! Definitely a must read blogger 😀 P.S if you check out her Liebster blog award post, it shows a picture of me at the gym (inside the locker room) just in case anyone wants to see my hard work 😛

I feel very honored to be nominated for the Liebster award; The Liebster Award is an award that is given to bloggers by bloggers. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

The award is a way to be discovered, to connect and support other bloggers within the blogging community. Originally it was given out to blogs with less than 2000 readers but this has slowly lowed as the reward has gained popularity. It is now only 200 readers or less.

Its a great way you get new and up and coming Bloggers a chance to be seen and discovered!

My Questions given to me by jbrobinblog:

  1. What is the most extreme thing you have ever done? Hm, I don’t know if I have ever done anything too extreme, but I would have to say is climb up a 500 ft tower when I was in middle school. That was pretty extreme to me then.
  2. If you can take someone with you in your travels, who would it be? Either my best friend, or possibly my youngest brother (he is 8) but him and I are close. My other brother would probably decline the travel with me, (he is 21)
  3. What is the scariest thing you have experience while traveling? Crossing really HUGE bridges that make me think I may not live driving over it.
  4. If you could give someone a 1,000,000 dollars, who would you give it to? Is it bad, I would keep it for myself? lol. Fine, I will be nice and share it among my mom and siblings.. jeez. I might even give the dog some money 😛
  5. What inspires you the most, to do what you do everyday? Being alive and able.
  6. Do you find it hard to stay motivated & stick with exercise routines everyday? Honest answer: no. I love what I do inside the gym, some days are not always great and those days really test my mental state and challenge me to keep going.
  7. What is your most constant rule you believe to stick to? “If I don’t give it my all, I don’t deserve the prize”  (yes, I did just make this one up)
  8. Do you feel it is important to have a routine? Yes, routines keep me grounded.
  9. If you could quit your job and do anything, what would you do/where would you go? Oh goodness, where do I get started. I would move to a bigger city, become a really popular trainer in the area, train celebs and travel to different locations helping people get in shape, I would be the next mogul of fitness. I would be the name you think of when you think of health/fitness. Yep, that is what I want to accomplish 🙂 Also, I would be such a GREAT athlete, that I would make it to the CrossFit games and olympics, all in one year! hahaha. That would be pretty amazing.
  10. Do you think education as it is today, does justice to life and learning? An interesting question, I think education today has changed quite a bit since I have been a student. I am not sure what to think of our educational system much anymore. I think education gives people a running head start but it fails to give people the real life experience they need in order to make it in this world.

What to Do if  Nominated for the Liebster Award:

Back in 2011 the rules were a simple case of acknowledgement of the nominator and to nominate 5 more. Now in 2017 it is a little more involved and will continue to evolve as blogging becomes more accessible.

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you should do the follow:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog. Try to include a little promotion for the person who nominated you. They will thank you for it and those who you nominate will also help you out as well.
  1. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.) go to The Global Aussie for a whole lot of images you can use for your 2017 Liebster Award.
  1. For the 2017 Liebster Award they will be shaking things up! Write a 150-300 word post about your favourite blog that is not your own. Explain why you like the blog, provide links.
  1. Provide 10 random facts about yourself. (This year I’m making this optional. If you wish to engage with your readers it’s a great idea to include random facts about you.)
  1. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 200 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
  1. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here or simply link by to this post.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to: Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post or mine if you don’t have all the information so that they can learn about it.

My Favorite Blog to Read:

Okay so, since starting my blog there were people whom I connected with and others who I never had the chance to spend time talking to. this was a hard decision because I pretty based this on those that I had a conversation with and who were a huge supporter of my blog when I first got started. I would like to mention there were plenty of you that could very well deserve this award from me, but I want to give this to someone who no longer blogs as of now but who I enjoyed speaking with and reading their work. Grant Norris. I know many of you probably didn’t the chance to connect with him but his blog was also a fitness blog, mostly about being a strongmen but also about other things that caught my attention. The reason I enjoyed this blog was because he was a young writer but making such huge sacrifices to be the best athlete he could be and I looked up to him in a way that inspired me to go after my dreams when it came to being an athlete.  If he was still around on the blogosphere, I think he would be would happy that I continued to write and would be excited that I granted me as my favorite blog to read. If you ever get the chance, stop over to his page and look at some of his post, they might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it was one of mine. Thank you Grant @ https://heavybarbell.com/ for being a great writer and giving the chance to talk to you on so many levels, you made me laugh more than most dude.

My nominees will be:

The Gym Goers Job

obligation

In a world full of body savvy, nutritional professionals, where I am only less than the 1 percent who actually cares about the well-being of others not just how their ass looks in jeans or the shirtless pictures they post on social media. Although, we all look, guilty as charged. I found out recently after reading a Facebook post from a group member of a fitness group I have joined (I joined many to share my blog post and Youtube videos) that is our obligation to look a certain way so that others will want to look as we do. I laughed loudly, very loudly to myself because I wanted to know how such a person even came up with that conclusion, as if I am some model citizen that people should praise and look up to in such a way where they feel the need to compare themselves to myself and others in our profession. Forgive me if this next sentence makes me sound like a whining bitch, but “who in the hell said I wanted others to look like me”, why is this a hard concept to grasp when I make mention that isn’t my goal. I don’t ever feel the need to strike an argument with a fellow personal trainer, because I know we all have our own ideas and ways of doing things but when a personal trainer makes such a statement that involves how we should look in order to make others “want our bodies”, “praise our hard work”, and “give us a round of applause for being attractive”, I find that kinda absurd, maybe because over the course of the years my body hasn’t made head line news and I don’t feel like it is any better than the next females, sure it looks nice but improvement is always needed no matter how “flawless” it may look to others, I find it needs improvement because I am not perfect and this whole I should feel obligated to make sure it is this perfect canvas is bullshit. I have my days where I am drowning in sloppy joe sauce and stuffing my face with french fries, and so if I choose to do that and get a small pouch on my tummy from eating such amazing food, that is my business, doesn’t mean I am any less a personal trainer than the next person in line who treats themselves to a salad on the weekends with a decent amount of croutons.

For one, I take care of my body to my liking, not someone else’s, I stopped wanting to be a show doll years ago when I realized people won’t be satisfied no matter which direction I take. Looking at me you would assume I eat veggies all week and stay away from any kind of fast food, or dining out but hanging with me, I am smashing my face with gourmet burgers and waiting for the next margerita to be served. Seriously, and I still manage a healthy weight, confidence, and muscle definition that goes beyond my expectations most days and I get complimented on my physique more often than not most days, not to mention if you have seen my recent pictures on Facebook of me at the gym, then you would know I know what I am doing when it comes to taking care of myself and it is not to appeal to my others and/or society but to appeal to myself. It is a bonus to appeal to others, because it makes us feel good, but on the other hand, I am not perfect, I bloat when PMSing, I gain weight, I lose muscle, my abs look like shit some days, my hair is never on point, my thighs jiggle to the beat of the music sometimes and I have stretch marks that I have had since being kid that switch between being noticeable and unnoticeable. Shit, I would hate for someone to be like me, and did I mention I don’t wear make up so you can see my pimples when they stop by to visit. Here it is folks, the truth. I think this whole I need to look a certain way in order to get clients may be true, of course, I have to workout, stay in shape and be healthy and not to mention have some confidence and pride in myself. I do. I have a lovely personality and I lift heavy weight, I can run sprints like a champ, and I maintain a healthy balance of food in my fridge, I have self control when I eat, I am knowledgeable in my profession, I have my degree,  I work hard and I carry myself with dignity whenever I have the chance, I failed to mention I have determination,I am disciplined and I strive to be great in everything I do. Always have.

So here we are discussing why I need to look a certain way in order to get clients, I don’t have to look like the chick on muscle and fitness magazine, I am okay with being myself and representing who I am to people in order to get clients and build my rapport. I feel as though no one would hardly know my lifestyle choices unless I told them, and I do eat healthy foods, drink water and stay active, I love having a fit body and looking good in pictures, but deep down, I am not a show doll, I want to be treated like I would treat my clients, “normal”. I don’t need praise, I don’t need another personal trainers approval and I sure the hell don’t have to put up a front like I am some hot shot in order to have clients and gain exposure. My only job at the gym is to work on me and improving my weaknesses, my only obligation is to help other people feel good about themselves, improve their health and well being and bring awareness to people all over in how important fitness/health is. Yes, I will need to look the part for people to believe I am good at what I do, but hopefully once they step into my world and train with me, they won’t need to feel the need to base my quality from how I look but from how they look instead.
