365 days of self discovery: Day 19

9.21.18

What are your strengths?

Almost feels like an interview question, but it’s an important question and one that should be open and honest because we can’t be good at everything but some of us are rather good at most things compared to others. I am going to list my strengths in bullet form, and might elaborate on some of them to give a better, deeper understanding of why it is a strength of mine.

  • The ability to multitask and do things under pressure if need be
  • Timely- punctual
  • organization & planning
  • attention to detail
  • teammate
  • communicating feedback if need be – now this doesn’t mean I am good at communication overall, because I lack in some areas of communication because of my social anxiety BUT for the most part if someone needs feedback or advice, I am pretty good at giving that
  • very patient
  • dedicated
  • disciplined
  • trustworthy and honest
  • respectful
  • determined
  • ambitious
  • focused – I pretty much feel this way in a work setting, whatever it may be, when I have something that needs done, it is done because I make it my main focus
  • leadership
  • orderly
  • visionary
  • independent
  • love of learning
  • perservence
  • precise
  • problem solving skills
  • good willpower
  • inspirational
  • fair- I like being equal among others
  • charming
  • personable
  • compassionate
  • educated/knowledgeable

This list pretty much summed it up all in one, and some of them aren’t 100 percent perfect but I would still say that the list was from both my habits at work and around friends/family and when I am alone — I had to consider all things in order to conjure up this list, now it is your turn. I want to see a list of your strengths, share them with me and my readers, it doesn’t have to be long, but maybe it is much longer than mine. To know your strengths, means to know your weaknesses. Don’t forget to follow, like, comment and share 🙂

I passed my exam!

ACSM certified personal trainer!

I wanted to share the good news with everyone, I retook the ACSM personal training exam for the third time and PASSED IT! I am not certified and really excited. I shared the good news on social media if you follow me, but wanted my blog friends to know the good news. For this reason, I have not been on the blog in 5 days, because I was really focused and determined and wanted to spend my days studying (it paid off). The test was hard and very long, but I am so happy it is finished, finally over! no more studying for the exam that cost me my sanity, LOL.

In the meantime, I am focusing on changing my social media platforms to reflect the good news of my certification. I am giving myself 2-4 weeks to have a business plan/ideas written down, because along with working at a gym, I want to build my own personal training business and build a clientale list that hopefully will be both profitable and fun! I have a knack for fitness and wanting to help people feel good about themselves, so that’s my mission. Everything will be in steps and NOT rushed, because I want my business to flourish and be true to self and my values. It’s very important I pay attention to key details and have patience because I know it will take time.

If you are a personal trainer or someone who currently runs your own business within the fitness industry, I would love to hear tips, advice, any type of help that would be in my favor to give me more perspective. I have learned some things from my college days but it has been 2 years since I have graduated and some of the teachings have faded from my mind since then, so I want information and of course want to network with like-minded individuals.

Next stop: working on a business plan.

Thank you to all those who have been more than supportive of me and my dreams, goals and aspirations. I live for this and want to be the best trainer and help I can be within this industry.

I have plans of creating a whole new website (with my own domain) for just personal training – but I will continue to keep this blog and make post and will have links, etc, I just want a more professional looking website for the business aspects and I also am thinking of making a new FB page dedicated to personal training with fun blogs, videos, sign up pages for training, etc, which then in turn will mean a second Instagram profile that is separate from my personal instagram –I would continue to post to the personal one.

I will continue to train for powerlifting and meets, so that won’t stop but now I have another focus and that is building myself & my brand.

World Mental Health Day

Mental Health Awareness!

Spread knowledge, understanding, love and patience.

With today being “World Mental health day” , I wanted to make a post and podcast about mental health. Every Thursday I dedicate my blog to mental health awareness because I believe it is so important to make these disorders known so that they become less of an omen and more of a way to enlighten, teach and hopefully make it so people understand the different mental health conditions – in hopes that we will find more ways to help these individuals and also to help ourselves from being ignorant of the matter. Mental health has been in this world for a long time, there once was time when it was looked down upon and people were sent to places that weren’t so great and were treated very poorly. Being in 2017, it has definitely gotten better but we aren’t perfect, many illnesses are still frowned upon and haven’t been thoroughly researched enough to understand them fully. While I believe we have gotten to a place where people know more than they did, I still believe it is important we continue to educate ourselves and spread awareness. I, being one who suffers from social anxiety and have had my issues with mild depression and nervous breakdowns, it isn’t always easy to talk to people about it, and sometimes it is difficult to share our stories or experiences with others because there is always that fear of judgement or fear that we will be the outcast because of it. Many people who suffer from mental health disorders live normal lives, and work with you and play with you and probably smile in your face at the grocery store but it doesn’t mean they don’t have an inner demon or that they aren’t wearing a mask to get through their day. It is not easy to spot mental health disorders in others and I don’t expect anyone to be professionals at it unless it is their job BUT my goal and hope for all of you is that if someone who know is suffering and trust you with this information, that you can be their light at the end of the tunnel or their ear when they need to talk or their friend when they feel alone— it won’t be easy, God knows, and it probably won’t seem like you are doing anything special for them but from my experience, sometimes knowing that you aren’t a burden to someone because of your illness can make it a little easier.

We all have our own lives to live & our own issues to deal with — I’m not asking people to go out of their way to listen to everyone’s story and play superhero, I just ask that we keep open minded & try to have patience and give what little time we have in our day to a loved one or friend who may need someone to see them for who they are when they aren’t having to disguise themselves in front of the world – because many times if they allow you to see them “raw” as such, it is their way of opening up and hopefully you feel honored knowing this because many hide it and disguise it for a long time & either end up taking their own lives or abuse drugs/alcohol or end up in worse case scenarios. With this being said, I appreciate all of my readers for being supportive of me having to open up to all of you on my blog about myself  and my world and i have had the pleasure of reading and talking to individuals who shared some deeper thoughts/dealt with deeper issues – which in turn helped me to gain understanding and insight into their world. I want all of you to know, I don’t mind being an ear or a friend or being a inspiration to get through the day/ you can count on me to listen and while I might never have the right answers, I will do my best to be there. I love you and I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.
